ABOUT
My design philosophy is centred on the user with an eye on making sure my work meets business goals.
Making well informed decisions based on deep product and user understanding. Delivering on those user insights, evoking the right emotions, keeping it simple, clear and easy to use. There are clear wins in ensuring theres a consistency in type, colour, space and components to increase the overall familiarity and usability. Design is an iterative process, often involving play, continuous refinement based on user feedback and testing. Good user experience relies on team work across many disciplines.
On my journey to UX, I worked in various capacities each with something valuable to takeaway from.
At college I had aspirations of being a furniture designer, something which I practise in my freetime. As a landscape architect, critically, I learnt to make well-thought-out design choices that hold up in crit sessions. In retail banking I worked at three banks across 6 products in many different roles; Product SME, Quality Checker, FOS liason, process mapping, telephony and more. On weekends I’d advise and design for logo and branding for small businesses. During the pandemic, a coworker gave me advice that made me change my focus to user experience. This reimagined my love of design and led me to the world of product design.
I’m interested in new industries, continuing to grow as a UX designer in a variety of capacities, collaborating with teams and creating meaningful experiences.
Away from work you can find me volunteering for my local park group, helping out with coaching under 12s football, nerding over furniture, cycling up Yorkshire hills, or thinking about my next Darkwoods espresso.
